OVER THE RAINBOW - El mago de Oz (The Wizard of Oz)
Esta canción es el tema principal de la película "El Mago de Oz"; una película fantástica estadounidense de 1939 producida por Metro- Goldwyn-Mayer. Su actriz principal fue Judy Garland, para quien se escribió esta canción expresamente.
La película esta basada en la novela infantil "El maravilloso mago de Oz", en la que una joven es arrastrada por un tornado en y dejada en una fantástica tierra donde habitan brujas buenas y malas, un espantapájaros que habla, un león cobarde, un hombre de hojalata y otros seres extraordinarios.
La canción OVER THE RAINBOW se trata de una balada escrita para esta película e hizo que ganara dos Oscars, mejor música original y a mejor canción.
